  • Overview

    Operate and monitor washing, dry cleaning, and drying machinery, including adding chemicals and cleaning lint traps. Identify stained or damaged items and determine status for repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard.  Inspect cleanliness of articles removed from the washer, dryer, or dry cleaning machines and place in clean linen carts. Set dryers to designated times and temperatures based on fabrics contained in the load. Remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry cleaning filters, and drain trap after each load. Fold cleaned articles into designated size, either by hand or using folding machine. Maintain accurate records of items laundered.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Report to work when scheduled, on time, in proper uniform including nametag, and at all times abide by company policies and procedures.
    2. Inspect cleanliness of articles removed from the washer, dryer, or dry cleaning machines and place in clean linen carts.
    3. Set dryers to designated times and temperatures based on fabrics contained in load.
    4. Remove articles from dryer when cycle is complete.
    5. Remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry cleaning filters, and drain trap after each load.
    6. Fold cleaned articles into designated size, either by hand or using the folding machine.
    7. Operate washing and dry cleaning machinery in accordance with company standards.
    8. Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
    9. Exhibit a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with guests and fellow employees.
    10. Follow hazardous material management program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood borne pathogens, etc. using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
    11. Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
    12. Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
    13. Report work related accidents or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
    14. Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and report them to management.
    15. Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
    16. Identify stained or damaged items and determine status for repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard.
    17. Report faulty equipment, maintenance needs, and safety hazards to manager/supervisor.
    18. Be familiar with housekeeping room attendant responsibilities and willing to cross-train in other areas as assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent
