Overview

Responsible for contracting and closing catering and social opportunities, and ensure that the business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery. Achieves catering goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue. Drives customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

 

1)       Revenue:

  • Sales:   Responsible for achieving and exceeding the hotel’s catering revenue goals.

2)       Quality:

  • Guest Service:  Work closely with the Food and Beverage and Sales teams to ensure the hotel meets or exceeds NewcrestImage and Brand Standards for Guest Satisfaction.

3)       Leadership:

  • Leading:  Motivate, coach, and train team members, set goals and hold team members accountable, and provide feedback, rewards, and recognition.
  • Work Ethic:  Demonstrate a high level of integrity, take ownership of personal and team actions, communicate effectively, promote collaboration, nurture a positive, professional work environment, and adhere to the Company’s policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manage the sales efforts for the hotel related to local social catering business.
  2. Work collaboratively with property Sales and Marketing colleagues, as well as other hotel departments, to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.
  3. Respond to incoming catering opportunities for the hotel. Identify, qualify and solicit new catering business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
  4. Proactively solicit affiliate business associated with citywide events.
  5. Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and know how to sell against them.
  6. Close the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs.
  7. Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
  8. Work with the management team to create and implement a catering sales plan addressing revenue, customers and market.
  9. Design, develop and sell creative catered events.
  10. Maximize revenue by up-selling packages and creative food and beverage offerings.
  11. Manage catering sales revenue and operation budgets, and provide forecasting reports.
  12. Working with the property’s Food and Beverage team, develop menus which drive sales.
  13. Assist with selling, implementation and follow-through of catering promotions.
  14. Implement process improvements and best practices.
  15. Gain understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution both prior to, and during the program/event.
  16. Develop a close working relationship with operations to ensure execution of strategies at the hotel level.
  17. Interact effectively with vendors, competitors, local community, catering associations and other hotel departments (including Sales, Kitchen and Events) in order to ensure guest satisfaction.
  18. Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g. generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).
  19. Participate in and practice daily service basics of the brand (i.e., MHR Genuine Care Basics, R Ways, CY Refresh Service ).
  20. Monitor the effective resolution of guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process by creating mechanisms to channel issues to property leadership and/or other appropriate stakeholders.   
  21. Execute exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
  22. Serve the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations, while building a relationship and loyalty to the brand.
  23. Perform other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.

 

 

Qualifications

  1. 4-year College Degree or equivalent, related experience
  2. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  3. Willing to travel and must possess a valid driver's license
